Lee M. Danhauer, CAI, is President of Danhauer and Associates, LLC and The Danhauer Group, A Family of Companies, in Winston Salem, NC. The main business entity, Danhauer Auction Group, is a full-service auction and liquidation firm that also consults to and conducts fundraising auctions for philanthropies throughout North America. Danhauer Auction Group handles real estate auctions and commercial and business liquidations. Danhauer Valuation and Appraisal Group conducts industrial and equipment appraisals in numerous industry sectors for lending institutions, legal entities as well as the private sector. Lee has over 15 years of full-time, professional experience in the auction, appraisal and liquidation management fields. Lee is the 2006 North Carolina Grand Champion Auctioneer and competes on an international level at the annual International Auctioneers Contest sponsored by the National Auctioneers Association.
He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Auctioneer Association of North Carolina and serves on several National Auctioneers Association committees including Government Relations, Long-Range Planning and the St. Jude Committee.
Danhauer Action Group has received critical acclaim and won numerous marketing competitions for their cutting edge auction marketing brochures and campaigns on behalf of their clients.Lee was the Regional Manager for Hilco Industrial from 2004 until late 2005 when, after the birth of his first son Hayden, he reformed his auction firm to remain closer to home and forgo traveling. While at Hilco, Lee concentrated on industrial liquidation auctions in the sectors of woodworking and furniture manufacturing, plastic injection molding, textile manufacturing and finishing and metalworking.Lee was a Project Manager and Account Executive with Dovebid from 2002 until 2004. He was responsible for the monthly IT Exchange program and coordinated the daily management of auction inventory warehouses throughout the US.
Lee was also the auctioneer and/or project manager at several major auction liquidations such as Enron, Motorola, LazyBoy, and Hewlett-Packard. From 1995 to 1999, Lee owned L.M. Danhauer and Associates, Auctioneers, Appraisers and Estate Brokers in Lexington, KY. In addition to specializing in business liquidations, farm equipment and construction equipment dispersals and estate liquidations, his company also provided the auctioneers and auction staff for other auction companies and the Kentucky Surplus Property Office. Lee is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Agricultural Economics and Financial Management. Lee also attended Loyola University of Chicago and St. Joseph College Seminary while studying Philosophy and Theology in the Seminary. He is a graduate of the prestigious Certified Auctioneers Institute at Indiana University and holds the CAI designation. He is a graduate of the Missouri Auction School and the Weikel Auction Institute. Lee is an instructor at the Southeastern School of Auctioneering in South Carolina teaching the Real Estate at Auction course as well as the Livestock and Tobacco course. Lee is a 3 ½ year veteran of the US Army serving in Desert Storm with the 101st Airborne Division and spent 7 ½ years in the National Guard. Lee lives in Winston Salem with his wife, Dr. Suzanne Danhauer and their two sons, Hayden and Evan. An avid outdoorsman, Lee serves on several committees serving environmental and wildlife/wetlands concerns such as Ducks Unlimited and Quail Unlimited. Lee is also a volunteer youth/teen minister in his church and serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Triad Regional Board of the March of Dimes.
